Picture This

I'm standing at the kitchen counter, squeezing lemon juice into a bowl trying to catch the seeds with one hand. So there is lemon juice ALL OVER both hands, and at this exact moment, Edie discovers that she can reach the stuff on the craft station. The craft station that just so happens to be overflowing to the edge with crap like a pile of bills, right on the edge, a large toy truck with lots of people, right on the edge, a couple of dirty cookie sheets, right on the edge and various things stacked on other things that can all come down with one tug of the notebook at the bottom.

With an almost one year old, all of these things happen SO fast. As she reaches for the first item, I yell, EDIE NO! She lets go and slowly reaches for the next item. I yell, "Yikes, Edie no." and toss my foot up on the counter in front of her. She lets go and reaches for the notebook. I scan and see the huge pile of things that will fall on top of her, let alone make a tremendous mess. I stretch my leg out with my foot on top of the counter in an effort to block this move and now I look like I am doing some amazing yoga pose but in my jeans with my hands dripping with lemon juice and no towel in sight. And, by the way, there was no zen moment except for the fact that I didn't fall on my behind in the process.
