We woke up Edie from her nap today to discover she had an extremely full diaper that had leaked on the sheets. No problem. We took off the diaper to discover that we were out of diapers in her drawer. The extras were in the garage. I didn't see a need to worry about her nakedness because we just took off and extremely full diaper. Did I mention how full it was?
Well...I casually walked out to the garage. Returned with the sleeve of diapers to find Lucy saying, "mama, look, poop!" WHAT? My first thought was Murphy or even the chickens. Had they sneaked in while I was in the garage. That seemed unlikely but what else could it be?
Edie was in the living room at this point and Lucy was still standing in the doorway of the bedroom pointing. "Edie pooped and peed on the floor!" GROSS!!! Right there on the carpet. It made me laugh because I just couldn't believe that it happened. So I cleaned it up before putting a diaper on Edie. I laughed with Lucy about how silly Edie is. And again, believing after an incredibly full diaper AND dumping on the carpet, she can't possibly have anything else in her.
Oh how wrong I was. We went looking for Edie to put her diaper on only to find her dropping the last of her second load on the hardwood floors near the front door while she talked with the doll she was holding. "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!" That's all I could say. Over and over.
And once I finally got the diaper on Edie and all the floors washed, I went to the bathroom to wash my hands. It was then that I remembered what Lucy was doing to me while I took Edie's diaper off the first time. My hair was covered in various hair clips. I looked hysterical. Oh...the mommy life I lead.
