Berry picking and birthday parties

We got lucky with this shot! Here are 5 of the 6 girls from our little co-op. They are all about to turn 2 over the next 6 weeks. What a crew. We still meet once a week for a playdate during the summer. Ava, on the left, just got a little sister this week so that has been big news. Ellie is next to Lucy. Abigail is at the front with the hat and Ella is the one next to Lucy on the bottom.
I found a pocket kite at a toy store recently and it has been a huge hit. It's super small and rolls up into a pocket so we can carry it anywhere. Lucy and her friends are really enjoying it but mostly they think the spool of string is the most fun. We do a lot of winding and unwinding.
Rodney got this big bug kite yesterday so we hung out at our park for a while trying it out. While he said it was for the family, he sure seemed excited to be flying it.
We went strawberry picking last week with the girls. I expected Lucy to sit in the row and just eat until she was sick but she only had about 10 and then went roaming around the farm. It was a perfect place where I could see her everywhere and there weren't a lot of people. We are headed back this week for blueberries. She has been quite happy about all the berries that we've had at every snack this week.
This was her favorite part. Just roaming and picking wild flowers.

It was Daddy's birthday last week so Lucy and I baked a cake for him. I couldn't get pics of the baking as I didn't have the courage to pick up a camera and let go of the mixer.

Rodney has his music studio set up and after we gave him a new set of headphones, Lucy got to have his old ones. She got to record twinkle, twinkle, little star and then hear herself sing. It was pretty cool.

Ok...so my enthusiastic voice is not because I think riding this tricycle is so amazing, it's because I've never seen her do it before. I had to call Rodney to see if she had been doing it with him. He hadn't seen it either. We have two of these that a neighbor gave us and they've been sitting in the yard. Every once in a while she gets on them, and a few times we've brought it out to the sidewalk but with no real focus. Well, yesterday, she got on and rode away saying, "park, park". We only got about three houses down before she decided walking was faster. But Holy Cow...she can peddle. :)

Hey Gretch,
Sorry for the delayed post but Steph and I totally enjoyed checking out Lucy's rising career as a singer! I can just see her and her Dad recording some music together one day :)

And you thought keeping up with her running was going to be difficult - now give her three wheels and let's see how you do! That's pretty cool.
