summer fun

The local firefighters had a big event at the Museum of Flight so this was one of many trucks the girls got to climb in and on.
Lucy and Abigail are super friends. They were so happy to see each other after our trip. We went to the zoo and they held hands and kept track of each other. We're just now seeing the friendship develop on its own without Moms' influence.
This pic is a bit out of order. During our 4 hour layover in Chicago on our way home, we got to play in the Chicago children's museum play area. It was pretty fun. There was an airplane, luggage, control tower and a helicopter. It was the perfect use of our time!
The PEPS girls celebrated their 2 year birthday party last week. A bit early but it's because on of the moms is about to give birth to her second. We played in the wading pool, had snacks and showed off our climbing skills at the playground.
Last weekend we took on camping for the first time since Lucy was born. She was THRILLED! Not that this is surprising. She found holes to jump over, roots to balance on, dirt to dig and thought sleeping with the puppy dogs was pretty cool. Murphy chose to snuggle next to Lucy instead of me. The other great discovery was that the salmon berries were ripe so the whole campground was one big berry treat. We cleaned off the bush at our site quickly. In this picture, Daddy was showing Lucy how to break open peanuts. This is his favorite camping thing. I got to hang out in my hammock for about 10minutes. She didn't take a nap on Saturday and went to bed pretty late but the day was successful. We headed home Sunday morning to get a nap in which helped. We were only 30minutes from home so it was all manageable.
Lucy was welcomed by a HUGE hug from Spencer when we went to our co-op playdate at the park. He ran from the sandbox with a sparkle in his eye. It was very sweet. These two do a lot of climbing together. It's funny to see them start caring about each other.

So the following two videos were just too funny to not share. The first one is of the Adam family after a visit last week. We had to get all our instruments out, including Rodney's new clarinet, and have a jam session. Lucy is on the harmonica, Matt is on the guitar, Nick on the clarinet, Maggie on the drum. And later, Murphy began singing.

The second video is of Lucy and Abigail at one of our city parks in the stream. It was not a warm day but Lucy thought they should explore the very cold water. She quickly stripped off the shirt and convinced Abigail to come in. As soon as Abigail felt the water, she turned to leave the stream. You could almost read her face saying, "Are you kidding me?! That water is freezing!"

Thanks for the update! Love the new photos - particularly the one on the firetruck and the one in the camp chair! She looks like a natural for the camping scene :)
