Electricity Dependent and Phones in the Toilet

We lost power last night and Lucy woke up at 1am crying because it was pitch dark, cold and her rain music was not playing. Now, she has been listening to her rain music since birth and we always keep her cloud light on. Not really for her but so that we can we find her binkies as she throws them out throughout the night. Well, after trying unsuccessfully for about a 1/2 hour to get her back to sleep, the lights popped on which only woke her up more. We finally got her back down but I was worried because my nephew Taylor was sleeping on the couch. The next morning, I apologized for the unpleasant wake up. Taylor didn't hear any of it. I don't know how as we are always 15 feet from any point in our house. That's a 16 year old for you.

So this afternoon after taking a VERY short nap, she was hanging out with us. We were hanging in the living room and she was roaming in and out. She was carrying the phone with her and pretending to talk on it. There was a moment when I heard a sound from the other room that I didn't recognize as a familiar safe sound. I jumped up and saw the bathroom door open. I picked up speed as I prayed that I wouldn't find her in there. When I walked in I discovered her standing over the open toilet with the phone in her hand dripping water. She dropped it and shoved her hand back into the toilet. YEP, our phone has now been doused as so many phones have been. It now rests on the top of the cabinet all opened up in hopes that the pieces will dry out and begin to work again. Aaahhh....the joys of toddlerhood.

Just wondering if the phone is working or if it's "toilet dousing" did it in. Gretchen, your interpretation of Lucy's life events is priceless. :-) Hugs, Dad and Mom (Grandpa and Grandma)

It seems to me Lucy has a thing for phones as she was carrying one around in an earlier post (Cantrall influence perhaps?). In case you didn't know, they sell little plastic ones for kids or do you like the challenge of tempting fate? I know - easy for me to say since I don't have to childproof my house :)!
