Lucy's Smoothie Cookbook

I think there are 4 smoothies in here now. Each created and thought up by Lucy. A little help was needed in the beginning as she was just roaming through the kitchen looking for anything to toss inside. I probably should have let her do that once for the science of it all but I have a thing about wasting food. So instead, we talked about the smoothies we've had before and what we liked about them. Then we experimented. Yesterday she tried a new one with blueberries, mangoes and strawberries. She decided after tasting it that it needed "a little banana". So we added it and voila! It was fabulous.

After we have perfected the recipe, I draw the pictures in her book and she colors them so we know exactly what ingredients to use and how much. She then colors the final smoothie color so we know what to expect. There has been a lot of discussion of how colors blend to make new colors. What a great way to learn this!!

She is starting to let Edie help. There are lots of rules about HOW she can help. She doesn't always follow them but I'm sure as soon as she does, things will go more smoothly. I mean, would things always go more smoothly if everyone else followed our rules?

Delicious!!

Would you like the recipe? Take a closer look at the recipe above.

5 frozen strawberries
1/2 an orange
1/2 a banana
water

Blend until smooth. We also sneak in the various vitamins or minerals I'm trying to get in them each day. Enjoy!
