Lucy got a mysterious group of boxes over the past week from Aunt Karen, Uncle Joe, Emma and Conner. Well...the boxes weren't mysterious. Just the contents. The first to arrive was a package of popsicle sticks. The second had a skein of yarn. The third had a bottle of glue, the Daring Book For Girls and a cool chalk drawing toy. After reading through the book yesterday, we thought we figured out what the objects were supposed to be used for. Well, at least the sticks, yarn and glue. So we made a couple God's Eyes. Can you see her doing it all by herself? She's SO ready for camp crafts. I can barely stand it!!! :)

We got to visit our favorite stream at Schmitz Park. After a week of 90 degree weather, we were so excited for a morning at the creak for some splashing and digging and the weather was barely 60 and raining. We had a funny moment when Edie's bowl that worked so great as a boat, floated over the "waterfall" and down the "river". The bushes covered this area pretty densely and I wasn't sure I could leave Edie to catch the bowl. Abigail stepped in and said, "I can get it!" and she chased it quite a ways into the woods before ducking back through the brush, successful. We decided we needed a damn after that. We still were there for an hour before the situation called for a Starbucks.

Summer is a season for a TON of birthdays around here. Lucy's group of friends from birth all have their birthdays, plus my very good friend had two babies in the summer and since most of you are family, you know about all the family birthdays! We've gotten better about limiting the birthday party experience to just our closest friends but we have a solid community so there are still lots to attend.
Last Saturday, we had two kid birthday parties and a block party. It was a bit much but Lucy handled it great. She was thrilled. I don't have pics of the second party as I was pretty exhausted by that point. I'm not even sure I have pics of the block party. Chasing Edie around the street, off and on the curb, harassing the neighbor dogs, and getting into everyone's picnic food kept me busy. It was worse than having Murphy in public!! At least I can tie him up somewhere. I entertained the idea with Edie but thought that wasn't really appropriate. Besides, she has one heck of a scream when she wants something.

This moment last all of 30 seconds but the hope that they will actually play together one day is strong.

Daddy and Lucy picked up a periscope kit from Home Depot the other day. It was part of their kid workshops. She was so excited to use her 8oz. hammer and was quite focused on the build. I haven't seen it since so I'm not sure the end product has as much interest but true to her genes, the building was very exciting!

What awesome pics and stories. Your little girls are growing up!
BTW, your experience with Edie at the block party sounds like my outings with Calli. And yes, she let's out a pretty good ear piercing bark, probably on the level of Edie's scream. Not always the most relaxing, enjoyable experience but I keep telling myself she will grow out of it, right?!
