1st child...lots of prep work, planning, organizing and set up before child arrived.
2nd child...still finding toys and clothes as needed
1st child...very attentive to every developmental stage with lots of encouragement and anticipation
2nd child..."wow...when did she learn how to do that?"
1st child...bathed every evening within a beautifully rhythmic bedtime routine
2nd child...just discovered that her hair is actually blond when I washed it for the first time in...I don't know how long
1st child...clothes changed into pj's before bed every night in order to give message that it was bed time
2nd child...clothes changed when something has leaked or been spit up on them. Or when I've realized that she is wearing the same clothes at bedtime that I put on her the day before.
1st child...diapers changed or checked every 1-2 hours
2nd child...diapers changed when they smell, leak or are obviously inhibiting movement
1st child...playdates, story times and diverse outings planned for maximum exposure
2nd child...she goes out for 1st child's play dates, story times and diverse outings
1st child...lots of attention paid to creating perfect sleep habits in own space
2nd child...sleeps in the cosleeper next to me, in a stroller, in the car seat, wherever we can get it
1st child...promoted independence, adventure, accomplishment
2nd child...a good snuggle is so nice, especially when adventurous/independent 1st child is pushing limits and is on an emotional roller coaster
1st child...waited impatiently for her to crawl. Helped her get her bottom up, feet under her, even did exercises with her to encourage cross lateral movements. She didn't crawl until 11months.
2nd child...she is trying to crawl at 6 months and I'm wishing she would just sit for a few more months so I don't have to figure out how to baby proof a space filled with legos and rock collections
1st child...exposed her to a huge variety of music while dancing and singing to her
2nd child...exposing her to 1st child's renditions of said music while watching 1st child dance and sing
