I needed to see these pictures and be reminded of the other parts of this past week. While we have been dealing with the scary and stressful H1N1 flu since last Thursday, we also had a visit with Uncle Joe and Uncle John and got ready for Halloween. It's amazing how my memory can be so tainted by the things that were challenging, stressful and scary and forget the fun moments.

Uncle Joe is Rodney's brother. He was in town for the weekend with his brother-in-law, Uncle John. We see John every time we are in Florida visiting Joe so he has become an adopted uncle for our kids too. It was clear that Lucy has not had a lot of experience with Uncles as she spent most of the visit trying to understand the silliness and sarcasm. This picture was taken at the ice cream shop after the uncles took us out for lunch. Then they proceeded to let Lucy taste whatever flavors of ice cream she wanted. Yes...this was BEFORE naptime. She really didn't know what to make of the whole experience but she obliged. And was quite thrilled with the ice cream!

Uncle Joe risking his health by holding the diseased. You can't tell but Lucy was in day 2 of the flu and was pretty ragged. She handled it all pretty well though.

Peanut

Edie's not strong enough to sit by herself but she likes being in the tub with Lucy so when I feel like doing back strengthening exercises I lean over the tub and balance her. Then Lucy dives across the tub to make this whole experience that much more exciting.

These are the little pumpkins Lucy chose at the pumpkin patch a few weeks ago. We carved them and painted them the other night. They have since been covered again with markers. Unfortunately, all of those materials are water soluble so these won't be sitting outside tomorrow night. We did that last year and it took months to get the paint washed off the front porch that had dripped from the pumpkins.

Edie's first attempt at the piano. Either she's teething or she is trying some eccentric method of expressing herself.

Gretch, Edie looks more like you all the time! She is soooo adorable and I love her early attempts to become a pianist :-)
