I almost didn't come. I woke up this morning after a rough night of sleep and Lucy being up late last night and wasn't sure I was up for the trip but took a deep breath and trudged on. We packed up the car and headed to Grandma and Grandpa's RV. They have been parked at Dash Point State Park all summer and we've only made it down here a couple times. But today I'm basking in some end of the week vacation time.
Right now it is 1:30pm and Lucy has been asleep for almost 2 hours and Edie has been asleep since 10:30. Seriously...what is it about the fresh air and the grandparents? I don't know but if I knew this was a guarantee every day, I'd be commuting to Dash Point each day. Besides the super napping going on, I just realized that I have no tasks to do. I don't have laundry looking at me or the dishes or the dirty floor or the unweeded garden or a whole list of other tasks at home. I can actually sit here, guilt free and enjoy a little quiet time. This is a special moment I will not soon forget. AND...to top it off, Grandma made pasta sauce from my garden tomatoes and Grandpa took the car to get the oil changed. THANK YOU Grandma and Grandpa!!!
On a different note, a part of me is mourning the departure of my very good friends. I have known them for over 10 years and they are family to me here. I have watched and helped their kids grow up and now they are on a new adventure. They have moved to London for at least a year. Frank was able to get transferred with his work and the kids are starting school this week. Maggie is hoping to work as well and expand her skills and knowledge of public health. It is really exciting for them and a deep loss for many of us in Seattle. They hosted a big party last weekend where over 100 people came to wish them well. Thank goodness for technology as we are going to be able to stay connected.
Well....I'm off. I think I may just sit in silence for a moment before my children awake.

Wow! What a treat with Mom and Dad! Take advantage of it since they are still there for another month :-)
But I feel for you - didn't know Maggie and Frank we're leaving :-( I know that won't be easy.
I second that Jennifer. I just teared up a little over both things, Mom & Dad, and Maggie and her family leaving. I'm sorry to hear that.
Love and lots of hugs,
Sarah
Hey..no tearing up over there...Frank has been gone the last 2 days, in country this time, but still I am running solo with the crew..and as much as they are good company, it is a bit hard not to have anyone to talk to!! I am missing you all very much and love looking at all of the pix!'Hugs
