But before the melt started, we got in a couple more days of added wet snow. Here are some pics from Christmas Eve.

Lucy was so calm and purposeful with her gift discovery. She carefully dug into the stocking that Grandma Ganci made for her to discover a couple new instruments, a little book and a new ornament that was the shape of the letter "L". She is discovering "Lucy's L" all over the place. She has even started recognizing "Mmmm Mommys M" and "D for Daddy".

Lucy found a wooden train track set up under the tree and then opened a car track where the cars drive around on their own. She thought it was funny to try to catch the cars as they flew past her. This is a really great track that can be bumped, kicked and even picked up without falling apart and yet it is really flexible. It was one of our finds from the toy swap we went to in November. I think we paid a whopping $2 for it.

Lucy's cousins Elijah and Isaac sent her a sandwich maker which cuts her sandwiches and cheese slices into fun shapes. This was a big hit and needed to be used right away.

Christmas Day was a big success for all of us. Santa brought Rodney a table saw that was hiding at the neighbor's house so he got to visit it later in the afternoon. Gretchen got a stocking full of sewing accessories and gift cards for sewing classes and fabric. I was thrilled!!! Last year I got the sewing machine and have done a couple small projects but I really need some basic classes to get going. I'm starting to have lots of ideas for the leftover fabrics and Lucy's clothes that are wearing out. It's hard to throw that stuff away. I also got a couple of my favorite treat gift cards to starbucks and jamba juice. Thank you Santa!!!!
We delivered our neighborhood treats that we had baked and wished everyone a Merry Christmas and then joined our neighbors Josh, Heidi and Katya for dinner with their family. It was a really great Christmas.
The rain has finally come and the temperatures are slowly rising. There is some concern about flooding now since we still have over 6 inches of snow/slush sitting on our roads but it looks like it could melt slowly enough we should be ok. Yesterday was a bit rough to drive in as the slush is just so thick but we ventured up to our town square for dinner and it felt like we had gone on a trip. It's about 3 miles from our house and I hadn't been there in over two weeks. December 13th the first snow and ice came. Since then we have been within a couple blocks of our house. I'm starting to feel a bit of freedom now.
Santa's elves are still delivering gifts since their trucks haven't been able to get through this past week so Lucy is going to have an extended holiday. I don't think she'll mind.
