Halloween Fun

We passed out temporary tattoos this year so Lucy needed to try it out. This is her first tattoo!

Rodney's whole office gets into Halloween. This was his choice of costumes this year. Lucy and I picked up the wig and she told him, "Daddy new hair at home." HA

While I did the original scooping, Lucy spent the next 45min. filling and dumping the seeds and guts in and out of the pumpkin. We roasted the seeds after Rodney and I carved the faces.

We made some Halloween cookies to share with our neighbors. This was a day when Lucy didn't get a lot of sleep so she was a bit manic. That was an interesting combo with the flour and dough. I was covered!!
Lucy was a butterfly this year. We adapted one of her 3 pairs of fairy wings with some of my old black tights, some paint and pipe cleaners on a headband. We didn't spend a dime!!! I love that. Plus, we want her to have fun, not be overwhelmed with a costume that she can't run and play in. And boy did she run! Rodney took her out while I stayed at home to hand out our treats. He said she spent 2 houses figuring out how it all worked and then BOOM...she was off. He said she was running to the doors saying "trick-or-treat" before the door opened.

When she came back, she showed me all her loot and then we told her we were going to leave the basket for the pumpkin fairy and she could see what was left for her in the morning. We got this idea from our neighbor whose daughter is allergic to a TON of things. But to keep Halloween fun for her, she does the trick or treating with her friends and then the next morning gets a basket full of safe candy for her plus other treats and toys. PLUS, her Dad gets quite the bucket of treats. Lucy didn't really understand the whole thing but she let the candy go for the night. She has had one piece today but moved on! YEAH!! It's working! We're trying so hard to help her make good decisions with food and treats. And we don't want to start a fight about it so we're both really glad that we haven't had to do it yet.

What awesome pics! Lucy looks like a natural in the kitchen, especially with her little apron on - how adorable.

And Rodney, I would say don't quit your day job but considering the costume was for your day job, I'm at a loss for words... hope you had fun :)
