SHE'S SLEEPING...SHE'S REALLY SLEEPING!!!

I can't possibly explain how fabulous this is. After 2 weeks of short naps, lots of whining, leg pulling and crying, she's finally taking a long nap again. I can't believe it and yet I'm ecstatic!

I have little clue as to what has been the biggest problem. She's been teething, caught a cold, and we missed a couple naps due to social activities. We clearly have the child that CANNOT miss a nap! I should re-phrase that. She can miss a nap quite easily. Give her enough people to engage with or a new space to play and she's all over it. Try to get her to sleep in a stroller or the car and she'll hold out even longer.

I almost don't know what to do with myself. I've been trying to do all my household tasks while she was awake because she hasn't been sleeping long enough for me to get things done. I've probably got more done because I'm racing to get the floor swept before she reaches the dirt pile or mop the floor and empty the dishwasher while singing the wheels on the bus as she stands at the gate bouncing and crying intermittently.

Rodney let us sleep in this morning and he snuck out to work. I woke up feeling great that we had both gotten some extra sleep. Then I discovered how challenging it is to get ready while she is awake. She used to keep herself busy with her toys at least long enough for me to get my teeth brushed and contacts in.

Well, that's all over. She is such a quick crawler now and toys are for babies. There are so many doors to open and shut. So many drawers to empty. So many corners to explore. As I was brushing my teeth, I heard her crawling toward the bathroom. At least I could hear her moving, right? She wasn't quietly exploring something dangerous. So I continued on. I turned around to discover that she, in stealth mode, had entered the bathroom behind me and unrolled half of the toilet paper. Dagnabit!!! I forgot about that. How do you childproof a roll of toilet paper!!! And that is so thrilling that she has tried to get back to it several times.

As I moved her out of the bathroom with my toothbrush still hanging from my mouth and dripping with toothpaste, I quickly run back to rinse, spit and try to get my contacts in. Well, she was back already and now exploring the base of the toilet bowl and the cool toilet brush and plunger behind it. YUCK!!! Seriously...I clearly need to get up earlier just to have enough time to get ready!

What's that? Oh...our little adventurer has just awakened from her nap. Aaahhh...till next time.
