Happy Birthday to Lucy!! She is doing so many things now. This is a picture of her sleeping in the stroller on a trip to the dog park with Daddy and the dogs. She is sleeping through the night and even taking naps in her crib. She is grabbing toys, bringing some to her mouth, sucking on her fingers and talking constantly!! She smiles a lot but also has a serious look that shows her concentration on all the new stuff she is experiencing.Lucy loves to be outside! We have a favorite pine tree that is huge and hangs low over the side walk. The sun disappears when you walk beneath it and only shines through the branches in streaks. We like to stop there and look up through the branches. Last week I gave her a pine cone to hold in the stroller. She grabbed on and played with it for a while and then fell asleep with it in her hands. It was super cute!! It also made her Mom and Dad excited to see her embracing nature, literally!
She is also enjoying the webcam experience with her family that lives far away. Uncle Joe is really entertaining!

We are reading lots of books. I don't think she has a favorite yet. We thought we had a lot of books for her but when she sits through 4 or 5 at a time and we read every day...well...let's just say that we understand now why so many parents have books memorized.
Jack and Murphy are becoming more and more interesting to her. We now use them as distraction when she's cranky. We can step outside where the dogs get really excited and begin running around. She'll watch them for a long time. Jack still checks in on her regularly. Murphy was concerned about how long it took me to get to her the other day. I had her in the bouncy seat in the yard while I was picking up dog poop. It's not a job that I can run back and forth to her putting a binky in her mouth. Usually, I pick the right time when she's got 10 minutes of interest in her bouncy seat and the dogs. Well I picked the wrong time this day and she started crying halfway through the poop job. I started talking to her from the yard and tried to finish. Murphy had been running around the yard with a stick trying to get me to play with him. He was pretty crazy at the time. As she got louder, he ran to her, dropped his stick and sat at her feet staring at me. He was clearly in a different mode! This was the first time I really noticed him paying attention to her.
Well...we will have more pics this week with her Halloween costume. She has been to two parties already but was either crying or sleeping during the costume displays. Happy Halloween everyone.
